![]() If they are seemingly-sentient machines designed to corrupt and destroy all life in the universe, why would they try and allow living creatures to destroy them?Ī theory of mine is that the Markers, as they get older, gain self-destructive tendencies for whatever reason, while younger markers are bent on causing destruction. ![]() ![]() And yet, in DS2, the hallucination of Nicole that was giving us instructions to destroy the new Marker turned out to be lying to us and wanted to try and hijack Isaac's brain to try and kill him. I also recently read the plot of Dead Space: Martyr (a prequel novel) on the wiki, and it points out that someone else's hallucination was saying to destroy the Marker on Earth. In DS1, the marker hallucination (Nicole) kept giving us instructions on what to do with the Marker, which turned out to be the way to contain the Hive Mind.
